St. Francis of Assisi Academy spent their Truth & Reconciliation Day learning from Knowledge Keepers Bruce and Terrance from Tsuut’ina Nation with @Brownbearwomanevents Starlight family. They brought their traditional teachings of the tipi, history of Treaty 7, and traditional ways of knowing and culture to enrich our knowledge of the land we call home 🧡 Lastly, a very special thank you to our very own Ms. Showalter for planning so many meaningful activities for us today. The feast day of St. Francis of Assisi is on October 4th, and we are so excited!! Did you know that St. Francis of Assisi loved animals so much that he is the patron saint of animals? At St. Francis of Assisi Academy, we also love animals!! If your student has a pet or animal in their life that they love, please send in a photo of your furry family member to be shared on our animal wall! Photos can be given to our Vice Principal, Mrs. Erick! Or emailed to Kerick@redeemer.ab.ca

🍏 🍎 Apples, Apples, Apples!! This important fundraiser offers delicious fresh apples for purchase. They come from a small orchard in Vernon BC and are listed as organic (although not certified). Purchase before October 4th, 2023 and pick-up from the school end of day October 18, 2023. 🍎 🍏

On September 29th, St. Francis of Assisi will celebrate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We have exciting activities planned where our students will learn about reconciliation. Students are encouraged to wear orange to school that day. Don’t have an orange shirt? No problem! They are on sale after school everyday this week in the atrium. Please bring your CASH donation to purchase an orange shirt between 3:40-4:30 Mon- Thurs and 12:40-1:00 on Friday.

Grade 6/7 girls Triple Ball tryouts begin tomorrow morning at 7:45am! Second tryout will be on Wednesday morning. 🏐

Dust off those running shoes, St. Francis! Our Terry Fox run is happening this Friday!! Tickets for our fundraiser “Gunk the teacher” are being sold all week in the atrium!!

Orange Shirts for SALE! 🧡NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION🧡 Orange shirts will be available for purchase afterschool in the Atrium from September 18th-22nd. Youth size: 24 dollars Adult sizes: 27 dollars Please bring your CASH donation to purchase an orange shirt between 3:40-4:30 Mon-Thurs and 12:40-1:00 on Friday. A limited number of shirts in each size are available and will be sold while quantities last! These shirts are locally made by @moonstonecreation and proceeds are donated to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation with University of Manitoba. Donations to the NCTR directly support Indigenous survivors and initiatives related to Residential Schools.
