About
St. Francis of Assisi Academy, located north of Okotoks in the Davisburg area, first opened its doors on August 30, 2016, with approximately 260 students. Today, the school proudly serves around 600 students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Our state-of-the-art facility boasts one of the largest gymnasiums in the division, 23 spacious classrooms, a high-tech New Media suite, a Band room, and a large Foods lab. The school also features a beautiful Atrium and Library, providing a supportive environment for learning and growth. Additionally, through a joint use agreement, students have access to the neighboring Scott Seaman Sports Rink for various skating programs and our PE + option (Grades 7-9) when student interest exists. We are also proud to partner with 1st Class After Class, a third-party provider offering on-site before and after school care exclusively for our Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. This convenient service supports our families by ensuring that students have a safe and engaging environment right here at St. Francis of Assisi Academy, both before and after the regular school day. At St. Francis of Assisi Academy, faith is at the heart of everything we do. Along with this strong foundation, we are deeply committed to academic excellence and promoting a healthy school environment. These three pillars—Faith, Academic Excellence, and Healthy Schools—guide our approach to education. As part of this vision, we prioritize the integration of research-based universal mental health strategies throughout the school day to support all students. These strategies are incorporated into regular classroom instruction and interactions, benefiting every student. They include goal-setting, anxiety management, and techniques for regulating the mind and body. A distinctive feature of our school programming is the Division-Wide Reading Block, designed to enhance literacy and foster a love for reading. To support this, we have dedicated an additional 20 minutes each day, Monday to Thursday, solely for reading. This initiative not only strengthens literacy skills but also offers students a quiet, reflective time that can reduce stress and support mental well-being. By nurturing a daily reading habit, we are contributing to the overall health and success of our students, recognizing that literacy is a key element in their academic and personal development.
